Considering New Zealand?

For those of you who are living in New Zealand I’m sure you have read these before, but for those of you who are taking a leap in life and immigrating to the beautiful land of the Kiwi, here are some interesting things you should know before you become an expat.

There is a magical hill on Hawks Bay, New Zealand, and by magical I do not mean fantasy creatures and spells but by the name of this interesting hill. It is said to be the the longest named place in the world, holding a whopping 57 letter : Taumatawhakatangihhangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu which is found North East of New Zealand.

New Zealand's population of people is very small compared to their massive amount of wildlife. Only 5% of New Zealand’s population is human and the rest is animals.Statistics from 2012 say that the ratio between people and sheep is, 1 human to 7 sheep.

Of that 5% population, kiwi people are quite the happy chappies. Rumor has it that New Zealanders are one of the friendliest nations in the world, making foreigners feel welcomed by their kind nature. So give that random stranger a smile over your amazing kiwi coffee!

One of the most important things you should know about New Zealand is that it is one of the least corrupt countries in the world, sailing in tie with Denmark. Can you imagine a country with little or no dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power? Sounds like the place to be.

Dogs are smarter than you think. A New Zealand charity taught two dogs to drive a car around a racetrack to promote that shelter dogs are a lot more intelligent than people make them out to be. Their goal was to increase the adoption rate and reduce the euthanization rate of shelter dogs.

Nelson Lakes National Park is a must see for all. Home to the clearest water in the world, Blue Lake is natural tourist attraction and New Zealand should be so proud to have this natural rich.

WARNING: more people die playing lawn bowls than scuba diving annually in New Zealand.

I hope this has enlightened those of you who are wanting to immigrate to this fascinating country.
